SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor, and In Charge EMT, the EMT Trainee will perform duties associated with driving an ambulance, along with assisting emergency medical technicians when asked with rendering emergency medical care to the sick and injured. The EMT Trainee is also a mandated reporter. The EMT Trainee must obtain EMT certification through attendance in a NYS Emergency Medical Technician course by the contract end date to obtain permanency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education;
• Current NYS EMT certification;
• 6 months of experience in the field of rescue and emergency medical services preferable;
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification;
• EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Course) or CEVO (Coaching Emergency Vehicle Operation) course completion;
• Preferably possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, class D in NYS, class F in Ontario or class 4A in Quebec or higher;
• Preferably be able to meet driving requirements of fleet management;
• Preferably have 5 years driving experience with a clean driver’s abstract;
• Must have a clean Criminal Record Check (CRC) for Vulnerable Sector.
UNDERFILL:

• Current NYS EMT certification.
