A Voice from the Eastern Door
To Helen’s Akwesasne Family,
I can just imagine hundreds of Helens favorite tiny hummingbirds of many hues phenomenally accompanying her safely on her journey! R.I.P.
A gracious note to pen a memorable moment of a kind and caring person such as Helen was. While I was employed for some years at Indian Time – as an Advertising Representative and also had some opportunity to write some articles for the paper. I was privileged to have known your Helen.
At one of our regular fun-filled lunch time gatherings, sitting near the doorway when Helen entered. She immediately put her hand on my shoulder and looked straight at me and said “How’s Gere today?”
I was shy then and those few words really had a huge impact on me. I felt at ease and it boosted my confidence and morale. This lasted throughout my tenure at Indian Time.
Whenever we briefly exchanged words after that, she always asked after my family. That’s how I remember Helen Lazore.
My Condolences to the family
Skennekowa,
Gere J.
