A Voice from the Eastern Door
Last week we thanked the people on the front lines who put themselves at risk to serve the public, or to provide the essentials of what we need to continue to live. This week we remember the caring people who volunteer. We hear stories of the medical community coming out of retirement and doing what they can to ease some of the tremendous pressure on the front-line workers fighting this virus. Let us not forget the volunteers at the food distribution sites, or giving blood at this crucial time, or calling the elders or shopping for them, or sewing home-made masks for others, and countless other acts of caring. Staying at home is crucial, but if you briefly and carefully donate your time, even from home, we remember all of you, too. You are the heart in our community.
