CATHERINE "KATERI" "LADY BIRD" PHILLIPS-JOHNSON

Catherine "Kateri" "Lady Bird" Phillips-Johnson passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital McConnell Site on March 25, 2020 at the age of 77 years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence "Balon" Johnson. Loving mother of four sons: Samson, Jeffrey, Henry (Abbus) and Lawrence (L.W.) Johnson Jr. Also, three daughters Ms. Cecilia Jacobs (the late James), Tracy and Caroline Johnson (Francis) all of Akwesasne. Cherished Tota ma to nineteen grandchildren, great-grandmother to 11 and great-great-grandmother to one. Dear sister of Pat Phillips, Bobby (Sharon) Phillips, Dennis (Cindy) Phillips, Richard (Vicki) Phillips, Joseph (Joan) Phillips, Andrew (Germaine) Phillips and Paul Phillips all of Akwesasne. Also, her sister Mrs. Myrna Brown (Kirk) of Gouverneur.

She will be sadly missed by her in-laws Ms. Elizabeth Lafrance, Thomas "Mr. Baseball" Johnson, Howard Johnson, Patricia Johnson, Josephine (Reggie) Herne and Sandra Thompson all from Akwesasne. Kateri is also survived by hundreds of nieces and nephews, cousins, and family members far and wide.

Kateri loved playing Ace to King, whether it was at home against her children and grandchildren or at Iakhihsohtha against her family and friends.

Kateri loved being surrounded by her grandchildren, shopping, and running the roads with her late sister Ann. She loved having morning coffee everyday with Sam, Abbus and her brother Andrew (P-nuts). Kateri loved talking on the phone with her friends, especially Rita Adams and her best friend the late Margie Lazore.

In her younger years she played baseball for the Snye Maiden's. She also cleaned houses, walking to and from her jobs. But her favorite job was taking care of her family.

Kateri always welcomed everyone into her home with "Did you eat yet!?" She fed a lot of people over the years. She didn't have much, but if you needed it, she would give it to you no questions asked. She didn't have much but the one thing no one could compete with was how big her heart was; she loved everyone.

Kateri was the Heart of her family, her passing is painful, she will be sadly missed by many. But knowing she's back in the arms of those she loved and lost, gives Solace to the Johnson family that Kateri will be just fine, watching out for all of us...

Kateri was predeceased by her parents John and Agnes (Née Sunday) Phillips, also by her daughter Tina Louise Thompson, by a granddaughter Theresa Margaret Johnson, by her great-grandchildren Zyliegh and Jack Cooke, also by a brother Henry Phillips and by her sister and best friend Ann Phillips and sister Marie Phillips.

Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic the family has requested a service will be held at a later date to Honor Kateri's Memory.
