Akwesasne Wolves Atoms

By Derrick Lafrance

The local Atom club stayed close in the first to the Cornwall Colts club last weekend in Cornwall's Benson Centre, but a second and third period barrage sent them home with 7-1 loss.

Wolves goalie Max Barrow was overworked but played a solid game making a few huge saves.

Midway through a scoreless first period Hardie David of the Wolves made a big rush, splitting the Colts defense, but lost his edge before getting the shot off alone in front of Cornwall goalie Jacob Fortier.

In the middle period Cornwall netted four goals in four minutes to pull ahead and Akwesasne's Anthony Tillman scored their lone tally after a goalmouth scramble in the third period. Adrian Thompson took a shot on Fortier and the rebound went through several Colts players onto the stick of Tillman who banged it home.

The Cornwall club coasted for three more late goals to ice the win.
