Climate Action Vigil

Fri. Feb 7 - CANTON: Twelfth Monthly Climate Action Vigil will be on the corner by the Canton Village Park in Canton on Friday, Feb. 7, from 4-5 p.m. Organizers are encouraging new people to come to the vigil to hold large earth flags and bring signs calling for solutions to the growing climate crisis. Local environmental groups and activists have started this ongoing vigil to call attention to the need to prevent and mitigate the effects of climate change. The vigil is held on the first Friday of each month in Canton. Everyone is welcome to join. For more information write [email protected].

Young Artists Competition

Cookies, cocoa and reading

Sat. Feb 8 - POTSDAM: The North Country Children’s Museum, 10 Raymond St., hosts a cocoa and cookies event with children’s book author Kiley Frank from 11 am until noon. Frank will read from her new book “Tomorrow is Waiting” and lead visitors in a fun poetry writing activity; signed copies of the book will be for sale and cocoa and cookies served; the event is included with membership and admission; for more information http://www.northcountrychildrensmuseum.org

Moonlight ski, snowshoe

Sat. Feb 8 - MASSENA: Guided moonlight ski & snowshoe with nature center staff; free event including gear rentals; building and outside fire open for hot cocoa and hanging out; 6-8 p.m .; groups go out promptly at 6 and 7 p.m. but come early if borrowing gear; weather dependent, call or check Facebook for updates; Nicandri Nature Center, 19 Robinson Bay Rd.

Vintage snowmobile show

Sat. Feb 8 - S. COLTON: Third annual vintage snowmobile show; Robideau’s Mahogany Ridge Bar & Grill, 3927 SH 56; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m .; Registration opens at 10 a.m .; voting ends at 4 p.m; winners announced at 4:30 p.m., prizes will be awarded; $5 entry fee gives entrants the chance to win oldest, most unique or people’s choice awards; free Glazier hotdogs on the fire, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and a snowmobile trivia game; info: Kirk Robideau at 315-436-4048.
