Massena school board approves slate of winter sports coaches; girls basketball coaches TBD

MASSENA -- The Massena Central School District approved winter sports coaches at their Thursday, Oct. 17 meeting.

The board approved varsity boys hockey coach Michael Trimboli at a $5,199 salary and assistant coach Kenneth Hurlbut at a $3,614 salary. Chris Lapierre was approved as a boys hockey team volunteer.

Greg Paquin will be varsity girls hockey head coach at a $4,617 salary. Taylor Zappia will be assistant coach at a $3,614 salary. A.J. Kormanyos was approved as a girls varsity hockey volunteer.

Brandon Downs was approved as boys varsity basketball coach at a $4,617 salary. Boys varsity volunteers are Matthew Perry, Thomas Miller and Joshua Miller.

Varsity girls basketball volunteers are Adrian Taraska and George Trippany. He was among a list of potential personnel actions, but the board did not approve Justin Shope as varsity girls basketball coach.

Zachery Marcellus was approved as junior varsity boys basketball coach at a $3,388 salary. JV boys volunteer coach will be Earl Firnstein.

JV girls volunteer coaches will be Logan Norris and Robert Cameron. Norris will also volunteer with the girls varsity team. Although he was listed on the slate of personnel actions to be considered, the board did not vote to approve Jared Shope as JV varsity basketball coach.

Mike Matejcik will be modified boys basketball head coach at a $3,388 salary. Boys modified volunteer will be Daniel Mitchell.

Kevin McBath will be the rifle team head coach at a $5,199 salary. Rifle team volunteer will be Christopher Sanchez.

Nicole Ashley will be cheerleading head coach at a $2,001 salary. Cheerleading volunteer will be TommieJo Villnave.

Thomas Oldenburgh will be winter track head coach at a $4,002 salary. Dak Zaza will be a volunteer winter track coach.

Scott Perrine will be the varsity wrestling head coach at a $5,199 salary. Modified wrestling coach will be Shawn Noel at a $2,968 salary.
