Halloween is just around the corner and the recreation held a Fall Festival last Sunday.
The kids played games in the gymnasium and painted pumpkins for Halloween. Representatives from family service programs from the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe were on hand to help with these family games.
Outside in the brand new hockey/lacrosse rink the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service faced off against the Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department in ball hockey. The two squads played their hearts and lungs out to a 5-5 draw.
Afterward the firemen's barbecue chicken as well as hot dogs and hamburgers were for sale and after this Halloween season is over the recreation starts to gear up for Christmas Enchantment. There has been a tree donation poster hanging up for the past several weeks and this is starting to fill up, and the year-end event is growing every year.
