RICHARD (DICKIE) FRANCIS

Richard (Dickie) Francis, 85, of Kanatakon passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of September 11th, 2019. He was a loving husband to Marion (Marita) Sawatis married on April 7th, 1956, for 63 years. Third generation Ironworker for 52 years for Local 440, Dickie worked all over the North East in the United States and Canada including the Unisphere for the 1964 New York World's Fair, Royal Canadian Mint in Montreal, Eisenhower Locks in Massena, and many more bridges and structures in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Connecticut. Beside his love of ironworking, Dickie enjoyed time on his pontoon, snowmobile and tractors. Jack of all trades, a true Mr. Fix-it, Dickie could fix anything and loved being the handyman at the St. Regis Church after his retirement.

He is predeceased by his parents Louis Francis and Mary (Sharrow) Francis, siblings Junior Francis, Teddy Francis, and Clara (Francis) Sharrow, and daughter Joanne Francis. He is survived by his wife Marita Francis, his sons Terry and Leona Francis, Scott and Tammy Francis, and daughter Lynn Francis; grandchildren Jared, Jay & Sylvia, Sunnie, Justin & Wendy, Collin, Mia & Ryan, Tara, and Tawny; and great grandchildren Hendrick, Symphonie, Sarabella, Zoey, Amelia, Lexi; and nieces and nephews.

Friends called at his home on Friday and Saturday. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at the St. Regis Catholic Church.
