Akwesasne Iron Girls Make a Big Splash in Philly

The Akwesasne Iron Girls: Karen Francis, Amanda Jacobs, Tasha Thompson and Terri Rios-Passon participated in the 2019 Women's Philadelphia Triathlon – Women's PHLTRI on Saturday, July 6, 2019. The triathlon consisted of a 300-meter swim, a nine-mile bike ride and a 5k run.

According to PHLTRI race results, 962 women from across the country participated and completed the triathlon, with an average finishing time of 1:27:25 for the Sprint Triathlon. Karen Francis placed her personal best and landed on the podium with a third-place finish.

The PHLTRI Athena triathlon saw 83 women participate with an average finishing time of 1:37:52.

The Akwesasne Iron Girls train throughout the entire year and intensify their training during the spring and summer months. Congrats to all ladies, you are a great role model for your younger Akwesasne sisters.
