Akwesasne Indians Road Trip May 4-5

The Akwesasne Indians took to the road this weekend and came home with 2 big wins.  On Saturday night in Brampton, the Indians took a 6-2 lead against the Excelsiors in the first period and never looked back.  The final score was 17-11.  Blaze White lead the team in scoring with 7 goals and 1 assist, followed closely by Keldren King with 5 goals and 1 helper.  Tommy Thomas had a pair of markers with Skkylar Thomas, Trent Square and Kaleb Malyon chipping in with singles.  Skkylar Thomas and Sekawnee Baker each had 7 helpers in the game. Troi Benedict earned the win in nets.

On Sunday the Indians travelled to West Durham to meet the Ironheads and, once again, came out strong in the first period taking a commanding 5-1 lead.  The final score in the afternoon matchup was 13-5.  Sekawnee Baker led the Indians offensively with a game high 8 points, 1 goal and 7 assists.  Also scoring for the Indians, Blaze White (4), Tarylie Thompson (3) Keldren King (3) and Trent Squire with a pair.  Skkylar Thomas had 6 helpers in the game.  Troi Benedict earned the win in nets.  Blaze White was named first star of the contest and Sekawnee Baker took second star honours.

The Indians move to 4-0 and will face division rival Nepean Knights 3-0 this Wednesday, May 8th in Nepean.  The Indians will be home on Saturday, May 11th hosting the Kahnawake Hunters, game time is 7 p.m.
