CKON just announced that the Employment Center is moving. I understand that the old building they were in really had many problems and they needed to move. Having attended Tribal Monthly meetings over the past years, I have heard of and then seen the building of a multi-million dollar building. That building would house all SRMT’s programs in a central location. After occupation has taken place, we find that we are still paying for many of our programs to be housed in rental properties! In this case we moved them out of a $1,000 a month to a $1200 a month location instead of making room for them in our new multi-million dollar building which is housing roughly 150 people and has a lot of (in my personal opinion) wasted space. Seems to me that the cost effectiveness of the new building has gone. Our health care services are in need of additional funds, perhaps saving on rent could help our community more!
