A Voice from the Eastern Door
BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College women's basketball senior Abby Kelly (Bombay, N.Y.) has been named a First Team All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com.
Kelly capped a sensational senior campaign to become Bowdoin's sixth First Team WBCA All-American, joining Amy Harper (1985), Lora Trenkle (2004), Eileen Flaherty (2006, '07), Shannon Brady (2015) and Kate Kerrigan (2018). Also named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Northeast Region Player of the Year, Kelly leads Bowdoin at 15.4 points per game, ranking in the top ten in the NESCAC in points, three-pointers, field goal percentage and steals. She saw double-figures in 29 of 33 games and surpassed 1,000-point mark on Jan. 19 vs. Colby. Kelly finished her career with 1,272 points to rank sixth at Bowdoin and her 145 three-pointers are fourth in program history.
Additionally, Kelly helped lead Bowdoin to consecutive Division III "Final Four" appearances and was a co-captain on this year's squad that finished with a program-record 31 wins against just two losses, ending as the 2019 NCAA runners-up.
Prior to Bowdoin, Kelly graduated from Kimball Union Academy in 2015. She tallied 1,370 points in three years at Salmon River High School and helped lead Salmon River to New York State Girls Final Four.
