A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Ahkwesahsne Mohawk School on Kawehnoke would like to thank the Community Trust Fund for sponsoring our school. With our funds, we were able to purchase iPads for our Mohawk Language Program. The iPads are used to record conversations. Our Grade 8 girls attended the Ionkwanikonhriiosne Sewing Center at the Peace Tree Mall and made ribbon skirts. The girls will be wearing their skirts for the 8th Grade Graduation. The Community Fund also provided the school with many fun student incentives such as Little Ray’s Reptiles, sliding and hot chocolate, and a popcorn sundae incentive for great attendance. Our attendance committee purchased medals to award students for perfect attendance. Funding helps to support Cooking Club activities and after school clubs such as Board Games Club and Lego Club. We also sent students to school sports tournaments such as volleyball, ultimate chicken, floor hockey and basketball. We were able to purchase incentives for our year end draw for bikes and sports equipment. We appreciate the funding and continued support. Niawen!
