Salmon River girls hockey closes regular season with win over Malone; boys down Beekmantown; girls, boys basketball teams face OFA, C-P, Canton

The Salmon River Shamrocks varsity girls hockey team closed out their regular season with a win over Malone, and the boys squadron downed Beekmantown in a blowout win.

Meanwhile, the Shamrocks boys and girls varsity basketball teams squared off against Canton, Colton-Pierrepont and Ogdensburg.

The Lady Shamrocks closed their hockey season on a high note on Friday, Jan. 25 with a 4-0 win over Malone. Rylee Garrow and Madison Collette scored the game-winner plus an insurance marker in the first seven minutes. Collette went on to score a second time, and Makhia Snyder produced the other goal. Brycelan Sunday assisted two plays and Hannah Johnson helped set up one. Sierra Norton-Glen stood tall in the net, denying all 19 scoring attempts fired her way. For Franklin Academy, Michele White made 24 saves.

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, Salmon River defeated Beekmantown 8-2 at home. The ‘Rocks scored three goals in the first, then three more in the middle stanza. Alex Oakes paced SRC with three goals. Khyler Johnson, Tim Cook, Cameron Cartier, Kaden Conners and Connor Lewis all scored once. Cook and Cartier also produced three assists each. Dillon St. Ann-Spinner tallied five helpers. Jared Showen set up one play. John Jacobs, with 10 saves, and Preston Hemlock with six split goaltender duties. Cody Repas and Kaden Kowalowski scored for Beekmantown. Kagan Livsey assisted both plays. Riley Hansen, with 17 saves, and Conner McCarthy with 23 spent time in the Eagles’ crease.

The Shamrocks girls and boys varsity basketball teams lost to Colton-Pierrepont and Ogdensburg on Friday, Jan. 25.

The girls team ended with a 31-26 final score in the game played at Fort Covington. Kamea Jones scored a game-high 16 points. Kahnekahawi scored two points. Meg Martin and Jheri White each made a free throw. For C-P, Landree Chamberlain scored nine points, Alexus Cuthbert made eight, Jaeleigh Jacob six and four each from Emma Clemo and Kaitlynn Long.

In the boys game, the final was 86-37. Rarennenha:wi Cook-Francis led SRC with 11 points. P.J. Ghostlaw, Logan Lebehn, Greg Burdash, Clayton Jones, Tobias Jacobs and Cayden Sunday all scored four points. Dylan Beam scored two. For OFA, Mecci Johnson scored 13 points, Jackson Jones 12 and Harry Powers 11. Nine points apiece came from Trent Sargent, Connor Griffith and Cooper Hunter.

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, Salmon River lost to Canton 59-41. Lebehn and Jones each scored 10 points. Cook-Francis scored five. Bronson Sunday and Cayden Sunday each scored four. Ghostlaw and Davis Laughing scored two points each.
