AKWESASNE – Woodrow J. "Woody" Cook, 59, of 394 Cook Road, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 22, 2019 at the home of his son Jonathan in Akwesasne.
Woody was born October 19, 1959 in Massena, the son of the late Jacob and Frances R. (Leaf) Cook. He graduated from Massena High School and later attended vocational school for carpentry. He later trained to be an ironworker under his father. On September 28, 1993, he married Pamela David at St. Regis Catholic Church.
Woody was an ironworker with Local 440 retiring due to medical disability. He had a great passion for ironwork and enjoyed camping and fishing. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his family at family reunions, cook-outs and bon fires.
Woody is survived by his wife, Pam; his children, Jonathan Cook, Noah Cook (Kailyn), and Katelyn Cook (Aniatariio), all of Akwesasne; a chosen son, Mitchell David; his grandson, Mitchell Thompson; chosen grandchildren, Riley Cummings and Bennett David; his sister, Carol and Pete Rusello of Kentucky; his brother, Jake Cook, Jr. of Akwesasne; and his godchildren, Jake Cook and Krissy Rusello.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his godson and nephew, Thomas Bero.
Friends called at his home on Monday and Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, January 29th at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores celebrating. Cremation will follow.
