THEODORE LAWRENCE "TEDDY" JACOBS "SKAIOWATIHSON"

KANATAKON – Theodore Lawrence "Teddy" Jacobs "SKAIOWATIHSON", 80, of 61 Akwesasne Street, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at IAKHIHSOHTHA Lodge.

Teddy was born February 9, 1938 in Cornwall, ON, son of the late Angus and Margaret Square Mitchell. He married Harriett Gray, who predeceased him in 2002. He was a member of the Mohawk Nation Longhouse, was a Wolf Clan Feather Keeper, a former member of the Shriners Lodge, and a Death Benefits Group member.

Teddy was owner and operator of the T&H Convenience Store and was an Ironworker with Local #440 Utica. He also worked on the docks in Cornwall, drove school bus and was a milk delivery man. He enjoyed Bingo, travelling, cruises and taking pictures.

Teddy is survived by his step-daughter, Carol and Mitch Smoke of Akwesasne; his children, Debra Square of Akwesasne, Ted Square Jr. and his wife, Bridgette Phillips of Akwesasne, Fred Square and Fern Vyse of Six Nations, and Honey Skidders of Akwesasne; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Besides his wife Harriett, Teddy was predeceased by a son, Ronnie Hill Square on May 29, 1994; two step-sons, Billy and Arthur Yopps; and his sister, Jean Herne.

Friends called at his home from Friday until Sunday at 10:00 AM, when a funeral service was held at the Mohawk Nation Longhouse. Burial will follow at the Longhouse Cemetery.
