AKWESASNE MOHAWK AMBULANCE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH PAY LEVEL: SP09 $45,034.80
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor, and In Charge EMT, the EMT Trainee will perform duties associated with driving an ambulance, along with assisting emergency medical technicians when asked with rendering emergency medical care to the sick and injured. The EMT Trainee is also a mandated reporter. The EMT Trainee must obtain EMT certification through attendance in a NYS Emergency Medical Technician course by the contract end date to obtain permanency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, class D in NYS, class F in Ontario or class 4A in Quebec or higher.
• Experience in the field of rescue or emergency medical services is an asset.
• Must have five (5) years driving experience with a clean driver’s abstract and able to be approved to drive under the fleet management policy.
• After hiring, must successfully complete EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) or CEVO (Coaching Emergency Vehicle Operations) course.
• After hiring, must successfully complete AHA CPR and first aid.
• After hiring, must register for and attend a NYS Emergency Medical Technician training course. Successful completion of NYS EMT course within 24 months of employment start date is required to gain permanent employment.
• A clean criminal reference check (CPIC) for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
