AKWESASNE – After a brief illness, Nelson R. Jacobs, 67, of 70 Third Street, Kanatakon, passed away Tuesday evening, October 30, 2018 at Ottawa General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Nelson was born May 3, 1951 in Cornwall, the son of the late Thomas F. and Cecilia (David) Jacobs. He attended school in Kanatakon before graduating from St. Lawrence High School in Cornwall. He later graduated from St. Lawrence College.
Nelson worked at Alcoa for 37 years, starting in the pot rooms before retiring as an electrician. He had a great passion for golf and was a longtime member of the Massena Country Club and as a younger man, he played lacrosse for the St. Regis Braves. He was also a lifetime fan of the NY Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs, was a follower of Star Trek, and loved shopping.
Nelson is survived by his sisters, Hazel Jacobs, Carol and Joseph Thompson, Ella and Vaughn Arquette, Gary and Nadine Jacobs; one brother, Gorman and Paula Jacobs; as well as 8 nieces and nephews, Ryan and Kanentahawi, Kayla and James, Teena, Denise and Darcy, Marg and Robin, Adam and Natalie, Gordon and Chrissy, and Pamela; 22 great nieces and nephews; and his aunts, Delia and Richard Jr. Cook and Evelyn and George David.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two nephews, Daniel and Aaron Arquette and his brother-in-law, Albert Jocko.
Friends may call Saturday 11:00 – 3:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena where funeral services at 3:00 PM. Cremation will follow.
