Annual Fall Fest Takes Place at St. Regis Mohawk School

By: Jaclyn Hall

The St. Regis Mohawk School hosted their Annual Fall Fest on Friday, October 5, 2018. The Fall Fest is one of the Parent Teacher Organization's (PTO) biggest events, with numerous organizations, programs and businesses helping to make the event such a big hit with the kids. Some of the different community programs and vendors to help out were the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police and Benny the Dog, the Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department, ACDP, Let's Get Healthy Program, Iakwashatste Youth Fitness, Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club, SRMT Adult & Child Protection Services, Seven Dancers Coalition, Nicandri Nature Center, Strong Roots Foundation, Divalissa, Belly Buttons the Clown and Hilltop Inflatables, to name quite a few.

With all the activities, games, goodies and food every student was sure to have a fun Friday. The Fall Fest was held from 10 am to 2 pm, giving each class at the St. Regis Mohawk School plenty of time to enjoy all the bounce houses and balloon animals. amongst other things. There were smiling faces just about everywhere you looked, with the children grinning from ear to ear in front of the St. Regis Mohawk School, where they patiently waited in line to get on the wagon rides. Mr. Hahn and Salmon River High School senior girls volunteered their time and put on a dance party for those waiting in line for the wagon ride, or for those who just wanted to join in on the fun.

This time of the year, students are just getting back into the swing of things, so hosting an event like this just helps students to become that much more excited about participating in school activities. The event was organized by the St. Regis Mohawk School's PTO, and they are always looking for new members to come and help out with the PTO sponsored school events.
