Tarbell Management Shows Continued Support Through Heart to Heart 10k, Smile Cookies & Camp

(September 25, 2018) The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club (ABGC) would like to take this opportunity to recognize the Tarbell Management Group (TMG) for their continued commitment to the Club. Through various community events as well as in-kind support, TMG has displayed its dedication to helping our Akwesasne youth.

This past June, Heart to Heart held their annual 10K Walk/Run which saw 199 participate in the event with roughly 250 registering. The run raised $5,000 to help with overall operating costs that help our 699 registered members strive for great futures.

For the past four years, TMG, through their Tim Hortons franchise, has provided Club members with the opportunity to attend Tim Hortons Camp held in Ontario, Canada. Through the partnership the Club has successfully sent over ten campers since 2014. The first year, one lucky club member was chosen through an essay writing contest, and this practice has continued through the years. This past year, four lucky ABGC members were able to attend camp, this being the most we have sent since the partnership began. We have also had two youth start a multi-year leadership camp, also provided through Tim Hortons Camp, and one just finished his third year and the other finished his second year. Each level of Tim Hortons Leadership Camp features increasingly challenging activities, wilderness expeditions and workshops with specific constructive actions for youth to complete. The program builds skills and strengths that help youth thrive at school, succeed in their future workplaces and become positive, contributing members in their communities.

This past week, TMG held their "smile" cookie fundraising campaign at Tim Hortons. All the proceeds come back to the Club. Last year's campaign raised $1,000 to help the Club provide supplies for our after-school program. The Tarbell Management Group has been a great supporter with our Club kids, always making sure the youth are looked after. The Club kids thank you again for your continued support.
