On Sept. 7, police charged Michael L. Cook, 35, of Akwesasne, N.Y. with third-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment, both misdemeanors. He was arraigned in Bombay Town Court and released with orders to return on a later date.
On Sept. 14, police charged Scott G. Merkley, 52, of Norwood with failure to use designated lane, misdemeanor DWI and a felony count of driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more. Tickets are returnable to Bombay Town Court on Oct. 9.
Police say on the following dates, they charged the following people with aggravated unlicensed operation and released them with appearance tickets for Bombay Town Court: Sept. 7, William J. Laughing, 39, of Hogansburg, also charged with inadequate brakelights; Sept. 7, Arthur R. Swamp, 50, of Akwesasne, N.Y., also charged with suspended registration; Sept. 11, Logan J. Cree, 19, of Hogansburg, also charged with inadequate headlight; Sept. 13, Joseph V. Lavare, 29, of Bombay, also charged with no seatbelt; Marie S. Lazore, 37, of Tsi Snaihne, also charged with speeding (allegedly 60-35 mph zone).
On Sept. 8, police charged Evan E. Thompson, 40, of Akwesasne, N.Y. with using electronic device while driving. Ticket is returnable to Tribal Court on Oct. 1.
On Sept. 8, police charged Truman R. Square, 19, of Akwesasne, N.Y. with no plate light. Ticket is returnable to Tribal Court on Oct. 1.
Police say on the following dates, they charged the following people with speeding and released them with tickets for Tribal Court: Sept. 14, Adrianne M. Jacobs, 35, of Akwesasne, Quebec, allegedly 50-35 mph zone; Sept. 18, Monserratte Ortiz, 34, of Hogansburg, allegedly 53-35 mph zone; Sept. 18, Leon F. Tatro, 67, of Hogansburg, allegedly 57-35 mph zone; Sept. 18, Derek M. Jacobs, 45, of Hogansburg, allegedly 53-35 mph zone; Sept. 18, Rebekah J. Blow, 38, of Malone, allegedly 54-35 mph zone; Sept. 18, Mathew T. Molnar, 36, of Massena, allegedly 72-45 mph zone; Sept. 19, Patricia M. Boots, 50, of Hogansburg, allegedly 54-35 mph zone; Sept. 19, Karissa A. Cook, 35, of Hogansburg, allegedly 52-35 mph zone.
Police say on the following dates, they charged the following people with inadequate headlight and released them with tickets for Tribal Court: Sept. 15, Dawn M. Smoke, 41, of Hogansburg; Sept. 18, Morgan B. Francis, 32, of Hogansburg; Sept. 18, Mathew C. Phillips, 45, of Akwesasne, N.Y.
New York State Police:
Karlie M. Papineau, 20, of Hogansburg was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and speeding at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 15 on State Route 310 in Madrid and was released with a citation.
Marlon L. Johnson, 44, of Hogansburg was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana on Sept. 13. Troopers said he failed to stop at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection checkpoint on Interstate 87 in North Hudson. Police say they stopped him shortly after trying to exit the interstate, and he allegedly possessed 44 pounds of marijuana. He was arraigned in Schroon Town Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail, Lewis, pending further court action.
Kyle W. Herne, 21, of Hogansburg was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 11 on State Route 37 in Westville and was released with a citation.
