Former Grand Chief Candidate Allegedly Found with 44lbs. of Pot

Former candidate for Grand Chief, Marlon Johnson was allegedly found with 44 lbs. of pot after driving through CBP checkpoint Thursday, September 13, 2018. Johnson was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana possession, a felony, after NYS police say he failed to stop at a Customs and Border Protection and state police checkpoint in North Hudson, NY.

According to NYS Troopers, around 4:15 p.m., Johnson, driving a 2010 Volkswagen, allegedly failed to stop at the checkpoint on Interstate 87 in North Hudson.

Police say federal officers pursued Johnson for about three minutes and lost sight of him.

Later, US Customs and Border Protection officers found the vehicle exiting I-87 at the exit 28 off ramp. Police say they found 44 pounds of pot in the vehicle and charged Johnson, the sole occupant.

Johnson was arraigned in Schroon Town Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail, Lewis, troopers said.
