Akwesasne Communication Society Annual Meeting

The Akwesasne Communication Society will hold their Annual General Assembly on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department located on Route 37 in Akwesasne.

The Akwesasne Communication Society Annual General Assembly agenda will be as follows:

1) Opening

2) Introduction of the Akwesasne Communication Society Board of Directors

3) Approve Minutes of 2017 Annual General Assembly

4) Presentation of the Audit

• 2017-2018

5) Amendments to the Akwesasne Communication Society Constitution & Bylaws

6) Announcement of Election Results

7) Other Business

8) Adjournment

There will be three seats open on the Board of Directors, and an election will be held to fill three-year terms.

Board of Director Responsibilities: The Board of Directors provides oversight for the 97.3 CKON radio station. They develop and ensure policies are followed. They also ensure financial transparency to the community of Akwesasne.

If a community member is interested in submitting their name as a candidate for a board member on the Akwesasne Communication Society, please pick up an application at the CKON radio station. All applications must be signed declaring candidacy. To qualify as a candidate, one must be at least 19 years of age and in possession of a Red Card, Certificate of Indian Status Card; or Tribal Identification Card. Completed applications may be submitted to Diane McDonald at the radio station or electronically by e-mail. The deadline for submitting completed applications is September 5, 2018 by 4 p.m.

A voting station will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department. Successful candidates will be contacted to be present at the annual meeting where the winners will be announced beginning at 6 p.m. at the fire station.
