A Voice from the Eastern Door

Interested in starting an interpretive tour guide business?

Do you have passion in sharing history & stories of Akwesasne? The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Tourism Initiative has partnered the Wild Center’s Simon Schreier, Interpretive Programs Coordinator. He will be leading the Introduction Interpretive Guide course on Thursday, August 30th at the Akwesasne Housing Authority training room, 378 State Route 37, Akwesasne, from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. This course will cover basic techniques for engaging audiences in museum, park, and other informal settings. It is meant for educators, tour guides, docents, or anyone else who interacts with the public in order to educate. Please bring an item of personal significance. It can be a piece of clothing, art, jewelry, or anything else that carries meaning for you. We will be using it in an activity exploring the meaning behind objects. Sign up today or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact LaToya at (518) 358-4238 ext. 1506 or email [email protected].
