A Voice from the Eastern Door

3rd Annual Family Fun Color Run

The 3rd Annual Family Fun Color Run took place on Tuesday July 31st, from 5 pm to 8 pm. The event went off without a hitch, with hundreds of community members ready to go for one of the most colourful and fun walks in Akwesasne. The weather was perfect, allowing many to enjoy themselves as they walked around the Generations Park. The event was organized by the Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment.

Megan Bushey, Coalition Member stated "It really started as a kick off to summer. So, it's something fun for families to do and to celebrate summer. It's also a way to get to know the Coalition programs. This is one of my favourite events - the Color Run. It's so fun, it's during the summer, and we're outside. It's an event that everyone can do, all ages can show up and have fun at this event."

There were approximately 500 participants during this year's Annual Family Fun Color Run. The Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment's mission is to promote a healthy drug free lifestyle, and what better way to promote a healthy lifestyle then to do a Color Run. Community members of all ages came out and enjoyed themselves, while getting dirty and doused in a variety of different colors.
