A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Attack program had a very successful first weekend of play. The girls grades 3/4 and 5/6 clubs won in their respective divisions in the Kirk P. Den Bleyker Tournament in Canton last weekend.
Team members of the 3/4 club: Teiakoweratase Point, Avery Martin, Alaina Rickeri, Adleigh Terrance-Mitchell, Loniya Cook, Amalia Netto, Mylee Oakes, Cecilia Connors, Addy Cook, Jemma Jacobs, Carmen Stehlin, Maddy Stehlin, Bee Swamp, Bella Tarbell, Graycie George, Mya Cree, Inaya Bearshield, Iakiestakatste Bay, Hayden Thompson and goalie Azalea Lazore. Coach: Amy Lazore.
The day before the Den Bleyker tournament the club hosted Plattsburgh in a game at the Mohawk School in Hogansburg. On Wednesday, May 16 they hosted Massena and held a lacrosse clinic afterward and on Saturday, May 19 they host Ogdensburg also at the Mohawk school.
The other Akwesasne representative, the Grade 5/6 team, won their division championship. Team members are Amya Leigh, Drea Adams, Mya Mitchell, Harper Oakes, Phoebe Pyke, Leita Leaf, Odessa Leaf, Kayah Papineau, Iesha Swamp, Avery Oakes, Amber Benedict, Iehontakwas Peters-Martin, Tekatenis Peters-Martin, Anya Pyke, Gardyn Robertson, Jianna Lazore, Kimora Swamp, Nylah Tillman, Sadie Mitchell, Illeana Smoke-Johnson, and Kaysia Swamp. Coach: Hannah Leaf and Manager Kateri Pyke.
The 5/6 team won their games in the Den Bleyker tournament by scores of 15-7 over Massena and they won their two games over host Canton 6-5 and 8-5.
