Salmon River boys, girls lax down OFA; Massena girls defeat Immaculate Heart

Salmon River boys and girls, along with Massena girls, won all but one of their varsity lacrosse bouts during the week of April 2.

The Lady Raiders broke through in overtime to down Immaculate Heart on 8-7 at Mike Nicholas Field on April 7. Abigail Johnson scored the game-winner 3:59 into OT to take the game for Massena. She scored two other goals during regulation. Lindsey Ladue and Cayla Hinkley each scored twice. Gisele Todd turned aside 11 shots. For IHC, Kate O'Neil forced sudden death with 12 seconds left on the clock when Massena had been ahead 7-6. Her teammate, Sarah Kamide, made 10 saves in the IHC net.

The same day, the Lady Shamrocks fell 20-2 to hosts Carthage. Four days earlier, Salmon River won 12-2 over Ogdensburg Free Academy on the road. Meg Martin scored four goals and an assist. Jadie Burns notched three goals with a helper. Trysten Burns scored twice with one assist. Jillian Benedict scored a goal with an assist. Rylee Garrow netted a singleton. Kania Swamp and Payton Logan each had one assist. Dava Thompson denied six scoring attempts. Paige Merz and Erin Perretta scored for OFA. Ellie Foster made 12 saves.

The Salmon River boys shut town OFA the same day with a 16-3 final score. On the heels of a 20-9 win against Rome and 12-4 against Whitesboro the prior weekend, the OFA bout was the team's third win of the year. After leading Ogdensburg 6-3 going into the second quarter, SRC fired off eight unanswered goals before the halftime buzzer and never looked back. Trevan David scored three goals with four assists. Rowisonkies Barnes scored twice and assisted six plays. Nick Tremblay scored three times with one assist. Kolby Dobbins scored twice. Keldren King (one assist), Treyton Mitchell, Kyren Lazore and Rowennaskats Porter all scored single goals. Ryan Oakes Jr. made four saves and Falcon Cook covered the net for the rest of the game and made five saves. For OFA, Edward Swan scored twice and Isaac Testani once. Chris Bromley and Nicholas Snyder split netminder detail for five saves.
