AKWESASNE – Mrs. Jane M. Tarbell, 62, of 1100 State Route 37, peacefully passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 10, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.
Jane was born December 23, 1955 in Huntington, Quebec, the daughter of Janet (Reid) and the late Lester St. Ann. On August 23, 1975, she married Robert Tarbell at St. Regis Catholic Church with Father Arsenault officiating.
Jane owned and operated a beauty shop in her home for many years. She also was a funeral director with the Donaldson Funeral Home for the past several years. She was a member of the Andrew W. Cook American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed planting and maintaining flower gardens, cooking, crafting, sewing, and regular visits to the casino.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her children, Tina Tarbell and Wil Whelan; Robert J. Tarbell and Donovon Bradford; Tammy Tarbell and Eric Thompson; Katy Tarbell; and Alee Tarbell and Joey Thompson; her grandchildren, Ky, Kason, Kendra, Kakwiranoron, Iotsienhiio, Roneratatenion, Jolee, Jase, Jaelyn, and Haiden; and a great granddaughter, Iesohtsherine. She is also survived by her mother, Janet of Westville; her sisters, Faye Ross and her companion, John Simons of Moira and Karen Brown of Westville; her brothers, Reid St. Ann of Westville and Tom and Donna St. Ann of Fort Covington; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Lester; her sister-in-law, Carole St. Ann; and her brother-in-laws, Howard Ross and Jim Brown.
Friends may call at her home, 1100 State Route 37, beginning 11:00 AM Thursday, April 12 until 11:00 AM Friday, when a brief celebration of her life will be held. A memorial meal will follow the services at the American Legion. The family kindly invites all those wishing to honor Jane to attend.
