Massena girls basketball, boys hockey knocked out of state playoffs

Massena’s varsity girls basketball and boys hockey teams wrapped up their 2017-18 seasons in state playoffs.

The basketball team lost to Section 3 champs Jamesville-DeWitt on March 7 at SUNY Potsdam by a 64-29 final score in state Class A playoffs. The hockey squad lost to Victor in state Division I playoffs.

Lexis Jacobs and Paige Perry led Massena’s offense with seven points each. Tsiakoseriio David scored two points. Octavia Viskovich scored six and grabbed nine boards. Alyssa Eubank had five points with eight rebounds. Layla Bingham scored two points. Nova LeGrow had two steals and four assists.

J-D’s Meg Hair scored 21 points, 11 of which came in the first quarter, and also pulled down 10 caroms. Jamie Boeheim, daughter of Syracuse University men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim, scored 11 points with nine rebounds.

The hockey team lost 4-2 in Buffalo on March 10. Logan Chilton and Nick Linstad scored Massena’s goals.
