A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Salmon River Shamrocks boys hockey team on Feb. 14 honored six senior members of their team who are playing their last season with the green and white.
Those recognized include defenseman Tehakwirakarenrons McDonald, forward Preston Benedict, forward Kenan Herne, forward Jacob Cook, forward Gage King-Gorman and forward Dylan Wylie.
Several dozen relatives, friends and supporters of Cook showed up with cutouts of his headshot on sticks, which they waved around in the audience throughout the evening.
The honors came before the start of a home game against Canton, which the Shamrocks won 7-0.
They are slated to host a semi-final playoff game on Feb. 22 after earning a first-round bye.
