A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino and Resort held their first and what many hope to be a regular event – TKO Tuesday. TKO Tuesday was held on February 13th in the Akwesasne Mohawk Bingo Palace. The fight card featured local Tevin Terrance as the main event.
Akeen Mauzon debuted with a successful win over the seasoned Timothy Carroll in the super middleweight division. Mauzon walked away with scores of 39 – 37 and 40 – 36.
In the Heavyweight Division Ray Santiago and Damian Lewis went four rounds with both fighters looking for their first win in seven bouts. It was Santiago coming out on top as he outfought Lewis for a score of 39 – 37 and 40 – 36.
For the main event, Terrance and Daryl Martinez were both debuting. Referee Paul Brown saved Martinez in the round two of a scheduled four round light heavyweight bout.
Terrance stated, "I stayed focused and disciplined. And I work hard at perfecting my craft. I want to be a hero – someone kids can look up too".
Benjamin Herne, Promotions & Special Events Entertainment Manager at AMCR stated, "For our first event we've hosted, I think it went very well. Each fight was exciting and to work with boxing legend Bob Miller, was an honor."
