PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE SERVICES (AMPS)
Pay Band: $124,703.70
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Deputy Chief of Police is the second in command of the Police Service administering discipline, assisting in the creation of new department directions, programs and procedures. Assists in the upkeep and maintenance of department morale, review of citizen complaint investigations and ensuring a positive outlook of community relations is established and maintained. To assist in the assurance of peace, order, protection and security of persons and property in and for the Mohawk Territory of Akwesasne. Is responsible to ensure that all AMPS members are fully versed in policing techniques and conform to established policies and procedures and are fully trained in the conduct of police activities. Assists the Chief of Police with the operational budgets and administrative requirements to ensure they are appropriately planned, managed and controlled.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• University degree in Criminology, plus graduate from a recognized Police Academy and seven (7) years relevant experience; OR
• Post-Secondary Degree in Law Enforcement, OR a graduate from a recognized Police Academy plus ten (10) years field experience with supervisory experience; OR
• High School Diploma or equivalent; completed basic police training at a recognized institution and a minimum of fifteen (15) years field experience with supervisory experience.
