St. Regis Mohawk School Students Participate in All-County Music Festival

Submitted by Alison Benedict, SRMS Assistant Principal

The St. Regis Mohawk School was well represented at the recent All-County Music Festival hosted by Salmon River Central School February 2nd and 3rd with four students singing in the Treble Choir. Fifth grade students Phoebe Derouchie-Pyke, Kayianna King, Isabelle Sunday and Jaileigh Karonhiakiaratas Back were selected by their chorus teacher Mr. Warren Potter and joined with students from each of the schools in northern Franklin County to form a choir of nearly eighty vocalists. Under the direction of guest conductor Heather Lovelace the choir of student musicians from grades 5, 6 and 7 rehearsed for more than five hours on Friday and several more hours Saturday, prior to performing in an afternoon concert. In all, some 220 students participated in a program that also featured a Middle School band and a High School Mixed Choir.

A video replay of the entire concert is available on Salmon River's website at http://www.srk12.org or by visiting the school's Facebook page.
