A Voice from the Eastern Door

The 3rd graders of the St. Regis Mohawk School attended the Stearns-Cottrell instrument petting zoo on Friday, February 9th hosted by the Community Performance Series (CPS) at SUNY Potsdam. With the guidance and teaching from current students of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, these 3rd grade students were able to play a vast array of instruments from the woodwind, brass and string families.
Following the instrument petting zoo, a group of five world-renowned woodwind soloists named "Windscape" performed a concert for the students in the afternoon. Windscape creates a performance that takes the students on a type of world tour, engaging them in vivid cultural landscapes of distant times and places through history and music.
