With the Akwesasne Winter Carnival starting on Thursday, Feb 8, Iakhihsohtha Snowflake Gathering announced this year's King and Queen are Lily Benedict and Dennis McDonald. They were crowned at Iakhihsohtha and surrounded by friends and family to help celebrate their crowning. According to Sue Smoke, Activities Supervisor, the King and Queen are usually chosen by the front line staff through a ballot. While there is no criteria for who they pick, the staff will usually pick who they feel would be the best people for the title. This year Lily Benedict and Dennis McDonald were treated to crowns and capes, along with cake and a live band with laughs and happiness to share through the rest of the Carnival.
