A Voice from the Eastern Door
TAUNY (Traditional Arts in Upstate New York) will host a cooking demonstration with Maple Mountain New York at The TAUNY Center on Saturday, February 3 from 1:00-3:00pm. Visitors are invited to stop by The TAUNY Kitchen to meet Hannah Richardson and Chad Sample, the owners of Maple Mountain New York (West Chazy, NY) and to sample dishes made with their maple products. Starting with pure maple syrup made in their Adirondack sugarbush, the couple produces small batches of candies, creams, vinaigrettes, and even cookies. On the 3rd, they will prepare a menu of dishes flavored with their products in TAUNY’s kitchen. Visitors can watch them cook, ask questions, and take home the recipes. All of the maple products featured in the cooking demonstration will be available for sale.
The TAUNY Center is located at 53 Main Street, Downtown Canton, NY. TAUNY is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people understand and appreciate the folk traditions and local culture of everyday life--present and past--in the North Country. To do so, TAUNY seeks to research and preserve a record of diverse groups, customs and traditions; to recognize and empower traditional arts and artists; to identify and promote regional identity; and to provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn about folklore and culture.
