PUBLIC NOTICE

In order for the Akwesasne Membership Board to determine if an application for Akwesasne Membership will be approved or denied, the Board must consider the following criteria:

a) Whether the applicant was born in the community

b) Commitment to Mohawk culture, traditions, lifestyle, and knowledge of language and customs

c) Individual or family ties to Members of the community

d) Member of a Clan

e) Degree of involvement in the affairs of the community

f) Reasons for wanting to be a member

This criteria is in Section 11 of the Akwesasne Membership Code. The following persons have applied for Membership under the Akwesasne Membership Code.

Makayla Kawennahawi Rochon-Jacco, age 18, daughter of Robyn Jacco (Akwesasne) and Troy Rochon, a non-Indian.

Aquene Yoluta Thompson, age 18, daughter of Jason Basil Thompson (Akwesasne) and Robin McMahon, a non-Indian.

Blade Tyrell Lafrance, age 18, and Myles William Lafrance, age 16, children of Anthony Lafrance (Akwesasne) and Janique Odjick (Maniwaki).

Makya Leigh and Maleigha Dyann Jacobs, both age 18, daughters of Christopher Jacobs (Akwesasne) and Jacquelyn Provost, a non-Indian.

Levi Alexander Herne, age 18, son of Sue Herne (Akwesasne) and Raymond Dow, a non-Indian.

Mose Mathew McDonald, age 18, son of Adrian McDonald (Akwesasne) and Deborah (Brunette) McDonald, a non-Indian.

Destiny Ann Mitchell, age 16, and Dante Larry Mitchell, age 18, children of Lawrence Mitchell (Akwesasne) and Sonya Legare Mitchell, a non-Indian.

Keeya Marie Capton, age 16, daughter of Lisa Mitchell (Akwesasne) and Ross Capton (Tuscarora Six Nations).

Sierra Martin, age 22, daughter of Kevin Martin (Akwesasne) and Marnie Jorgensen, a non-member under the Membership Code. She is also applying for a Residency Permit under the Akwesasne Residency Law.

Community members have until Friday, February 2, 2018 to indicate whether they wish to make submissions regarding any of the above individuals by contacting the Office of Vital Statistics, at (613) 575-2250 ext. 1011. It is located at the Cornwall Island Administration Building #3.
