A Voice from the Eastern Door
With the classic traditions of Ice Carnivals of the past, and the modern touches of fireworks and an ice bar, Clarkson University's Cold Out Gold Out winter celebration is back for the third year in a row.
The North Country is invited to join students and alumni for a weekend of hockey, outdoor ice skating, hot chocolate, dog sled rides and more on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26 and 27.
The #3 ranked Clarkson men's hockey team will play two games that weekend, against Yale and Brown University. The action kicks off Friday night with dinner and the men will take on Yale at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday afternoon will feature a "Winterfest" on the hill campus with family activities led by Clarkson students including face painting and sign making, as well as an ice cream sundae bar sponsored by Stewart's Shops. The Alumni Association will host pub trivia and bingo during the lunch hour.
The women's hockey team will be taking on Colgate University at 3:00 p.m. and that game will be streamed live in the main event tent at 3:00 p.m.
The community is encouraged to check out all the fun on campus, with events like a meet and greet with the men's hockey team at 4:00 p.m., a pep rally, and the alumni hockey game. All the events will be on or around the Cheel lawn or Cheel Arena.
A fireworks presentation sponsored by NuMed will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Before the men's hockey game on Saturday, Clarkson alumni will take to the ice at 5:30 p.m. for an alumni hockey game on the outdoor ice rink on Cheel lawn. In the event of outdoor ice problems, the alumni hockey game will move to Cheel Arena.
A bonfire will also take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the Cheel lawn, then the men's hockey team will face off against Brown University at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Cheel Arena. The first 2,500 attendees will receive a free COGO t-shirt.
An ice bash with an ice bar and open skate on the outdoor rink will be held after the game in the main event tent on Cheel lawn. Feel free to skate under the lights on the outdoor rink on Cheel lawn Friday and Saturday nights after the hockey games.
