A Voice from the Eastern Door

Launch of OHIP+ Children And Youth Pharmacare Program

“As of January 1, 2018, Ontario residents 24 years of age or younger will be covered for eligible prescription drugs that are listed on the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) or the Exceptional Access Drugs formularies.”

This initiative will allow all eligible clients to have their medications billed directly to the OHIP + Program for payment.

The ANIHB program will not process any claims for any clients who are eligible for coverage through this new provincially funded program. The claims must be processed through an Ontario Pharmacy (Point of service) that is registered within the province of Ontario.

For more information please refer to the Ontario government’s OHIP+ web page.

It is advisable that those eligible community members who fall into the age group 0-24 years of age should contact their current pharmacy (if not in Ontario) to have any medication transferred to an eligible Ontario pharmacy to ensure that your coverage can begin after the January 1, 2018 implementation date.

Should you require any further information, Please contact the Akwesasne Non Insured Health Benefits Program at 613-575-2341 ext. 3342. Office hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
