TITLE: Receptionist

LOCATION: Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club

SALARY: $10.00 per hour not to exceed 20 hours weekly

HOURS OF WORK: 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, occasional weekends.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director

FLSA: Non-Exempt

The philosophy of the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club is to create a safe and positive environment while providing educational and cultural programs geared to meet the needs of youth, focusing on self-responsibility, maturity, and growth. The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club is seeking energetic and creative individuals to work in a fast-paced afterschool program.

The front desk operator is responsible for maintaining the front desk, providing quality customer service and ensuring the safety of Club members. Must be cooperative, friendly and able to create a harmonious and professional environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the safety, security and appearance of the front desk area.

• Greet, monitor and track all visitors.

• Supervise all equipment checkout and return.

• Answer all phone calls and take messages as necessary.

• Communicate and disperse information about upcoming events and activities to members, families and the public.

• Communicate with youth development staff and share information.

• Assist administrative team as needed for general clerical duties.

• Be responsible for maintaining needed supplies for facility and front desk.

•Maintain all electronic membership and tracking systems of the Club.

• Work with unit directors to track youth participation for grant requirements.

• Maintain Club documents and filing system.

• Abide by Club’s policies, procedures, Tribal, Federal and State laws.

• Attend staff meetings, and other Club events as needed.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• High School diploma or GED.

• Experience in working with children.

• Experience working in an office setting.

• Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications.

• Valid Driver’s License.

• Knowledge and understanding of Akwesasne community, values, traditions and social norms.

Applicants must meet the minimum requirements in terms of education and experience. Completion of three month probation period and a positive criminal reference check mandatory before position is made permanent.
