Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation Honors Employees with Administrator's Awards

(Massena NY) Members of the U.S. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) Workforce were recognized recently by SLSDC Deputy Administrator Craig H. Middlebrook during an awards ceremony held in Massena, New York. Corporation employees who have exemplified the organization's core values of Service, Leadership, Stewardship, Dependability and Commitment earned awards in a number of categories.

The following SLSDC employees received recognition for their accomplishments:

Administrator's Award for Notable Achievement: John McCarthy

SLSDC Leadership Award: Rob Barkley and Louis Fiacco

Commitment to Excellence Award: James Canfield, John Matthews, Dave Sanford and Brian Tulip

Excellence in Team Work Award: Deborah Perkins, Julie Barnes, Tammy Finnegan, and Christina Jacot

Also recognized for recently receiving awards from the U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao were: Carrie Lavigne for a Meritorious Award; Jeff White for an Excellence Award; Kevin O'Malley and Wayne Williams for a Partnering for Excellence Team Award; Chris Phillips for a Secretary's Team Award (Network Assessment Team); and Nancy Scott, Pat White, and Carrie Rogers for a Phyllis Scheinberg Team Award (given to teams in the budget and finance area). Two teams of employees received a Secretary's Transportation Safety Award: Mike Howard accepted the award on behalf of the Skiff Rescue Team and Derek Dostie accepted the award on behalf of the Enhanced Ship Inspection Team.

In addition, the following employees were acknowledged for their retirement from the SLSDC this past year: Don Kast, Larry MacDonald, James Houmiel, Peter Timmons, Ramona Garrow, and Joy Pasquariello.

The SLSDC is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation and is a major employer in the North Country area. The mission of the SLSDC is to serve the marine transportation industry by providing a safe, secure, reliable, efficient, and competitive deep draft international waterway. The work performed by SLSDC employees keeps tens of millions of tons of cargo moving throughout the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System. Deputy Administrator Middlebrook said, "Our employees provide the highest levels of service everyday and make a difference for the North Country area and for our nation. I am pleased to recognize and commend them for their accomplishments."
