The annual Spirit of Christmas was held from December 1st to December 3rd, at the Kawehnoke Recreation. This annual event helps to raise money for the Kawehnoke Recreation, with community member and organizations donating items to be raffled off to some lucky winners at the end of the event. This year there were 35 different trees and wreaths displayed with many different kinds of prizes to be won. One of the most anticipated prizes was the #9 $1500 cash prize, which went to one lucky winner. There were also several door prizes raffled off at the end of the event. Many community members made their way to support the event, and for the ones unable to make it to the Recreation, they had the option to buy tickets online.
The event also had craft vendors, Mohawk auctions and an open concession to satisfy anyone's appetite. The event had a great turnout, with positive feedback this year. The community of Akwesasne looks forward to next year's Spirit of Christmas, and what it has to offer.
