A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Lanark County Condors girls visited the Anowarako:wa Arena last week and despite having only nine skaters they put up a big effort against the Akwesasne Wild. But the hosts pushed their unbeaten streak to seven games with a 5-1 win in National Capital Women's Hockey League play.
Despite the shortened bench, the Condors hit very early even going in on a 3 on 1 rush, but Kelly McGillis of the Wild broke up that play.
Alley Bero of the Akwesasne club started the scoring a little over a minute into the second period and Victoria Thompson and Alicia Thomas added to it to end the middle frame 3-0.
Lanark finally got on the board with six minutes left in the third period but, Akwesasne countered with two more by Amanda King and Tia Mitchell.
