MCA Says Farewell and Nia:wenkowa to Dr. Forson

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne's Department of Health would like to inform the community of the retirement of Dr. Thomas Forson, effective on Nov. 30, 2017.

"Dr. Forson, or 'Dr. Tom' has given the community of Akwesasne 30 years of service and for that we will be forever grateful," said Cindy Francis-Mitchell, Asst. Director of Health. "I can recall the day he came to our new medical clinic at Sweetgrass Manor during the 1980's. Throughout the years, his main goal was to ensure that the community of Akwesasne had the best medical services available."

Dr. Forson's passion for the community, including our nursing homes, will be missed greatly. He worked to ensure our elders had the best care available, at all times, day and night. He became more than a doctor to many; he became family. You could often find Dr. Forson at community events, and he was a shoulder to cry on when needed. His candid and caring personality will be greatly missed.

On behalf of the Dept. of Health, MCA, and the community, we wish to say nia:wen kowa to Dr. Forson and may you find health, happiness and serenity in your new retirement.

Dr. Forson's patients and clinic hours have been reassigned to MCA's new physicians: Dr. Torres, Dr. Martineau-Rheault and Dr. Letourneau. If you need to make an appointment, please contact one of our two medical clinics by calling 613-575-2341.
