A Voice from the Eastern Door
On Thursday, November 16th the departments of Wholistic Health and Wellness (MCA) and Health Services Nutrition Program (SRMT) hosted an Adult Craft Night at the Grand Mohawk Inn. The event was held from 5 pm to 7 pm, giving adults the opportunity to unwind and relax while putting their artistic talents to use. The event hosted 30 individuals, who had pre-registered prior to the event. The reason the event was put together was to emphasize the importance of making healthy choices throughout the holiday season. Participants were given the supplies to make their own log art, along with a presentation on tips for a stress free holiday and eating healthier through the holidays. Supper was supplied, and catered by Three Feathers Café. There was several door prizes given out to participants. Even if everyone didn't win a door prize, everyone got to go home with an engraved bamboo cutting board.
Kim McElwain from the Health Services Nutrition Program states "Our programs (Wholistic Health and Wellness and Health Services Nutrition Program) both believe that staying healthy throughout the holidays and practising self-care is very important."
