MCA HOLDING COMMUNITY MEETINGS ON CBSA ALTERNATIVE REPORTING PROPOSAL

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) recently presented information at the October General Meeting on a proposed alternative reporting proposal that is being considered by MCA and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). MCA has been requesting an alternative reporting mechanism since the CBSA port of entry was moved off Kawehno:ke in 2009 and on September 11, 2017 CBSA presented MCA with a proposal for establishing an unmanned alternative reporting station on Kawehno:ke.

MCA will host a series of focus meetings to further discuss this topic and gather feedback from the community on whether or not the alternative reporting proposal is favorable. Your participation and input is valuable and needed.

The MCA-CBSA Alternative Reporting Focus Meetings will be held:

Monday, November 27, 2017 – 6 p.m. – Tsi Snaihne Recreation

Tuesday, November 28, 2017 – 2 p.m. – Kana:takon Recreation

Wednesday, November 29, 2017 – 6 p.m. – Ahkwesahsne Mohawk School (Multi-purpose Room)
