Wolves Bantams in Cornwall Tournament

It was a close finale for the girls in the Cornwall Tournament.

The Akwesasne Wolves Bantam girls skated side by side with the visiting team from Colbourne in the Kinsmen Hockey tournament held last weekend at the Benson Center.

In their tournament finale Saturday they fell to Kanata 3-1. After a scoreless first period Kanata got on the board with a minute remaining in the second period. With eight ticks left in that middle period Akenhiio Lazore tied the game. There was no recorded assist but Emily Eldredge was instrumental in setting up the goal. She had two great chances to score as she redirected a slapshot from Rayne Arnovich. The Wolves scrambled for the loose puck and Eldredge snagged it and tried to flip it over the fallen Kanata goalie.

That went wide and Kanata had possession, but lost it and it went toward the visitors net where Lazore was parked in front of some fallen Kanata players, and flicked it in.

That was their only goal but the Kanata team scored two last minute goals to ice the win.

Lazore was presented with Player of the Game.
