The two Akwesasne based teams in this tournament made it to the Championship game in their respective division in last weekend's Massena tournament.
The FastBreakers girl's team made it to the championship game; however, some of their players skate for the Akwesasne Wild of the National Capital Women's Hockey League. Their season opener was at the same time so they were forced to withdraw so players could run to the Anowarako:wa Arena.
The other Akwesasne based team in the Massena Dropping the Gloves on Cancer tournament were the Akwesasne Wild and they were also in the Championship for their division. They won it all. The annual tourney was sponsored by Massena Memorial Hospital and it supports cancer screenings and education at the MMH.
