The Akwesasne Chamber of Commerce held their annual Akwesasne Business Excellence Awards on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino and Resort. The event is designed to celebrate and recognize local entrepreneurs who have been nominated by the Akwesasne community. Nominations took place in July and voting ended at the end of August. This year the ABEA awards took a different approach and had several different categories to best represent the entrepreneurship of Akwesasne. The event itself represented the work of 12 local businesses.
ACC, Casey Swamp stated, "The 2017 edition of the Akwesasne Business Excellence Awards was a great success. With this being our 3rd year, the community nominated and voted on some excellent businesses. The Akwesasne Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate not only the winners but all the nominees. As a previous winner, I know it is a great honor to be recognized by the community for the services we provide."
